THE STUDENTS
PROGRAM STRUCTURE FOR CHILDREN
At
Tiger Kim's Tae Kwon Do Center, your child will set short-term achievement
goals every 30 days and will graduate to a new skill level (i.e.
belt rank) apporximately every 2-3 months. it is important for each
child to learn to set short term, intermediate, and long-term goals.
At Tiger Kim's every child's goal is the Black Belt in approximately
36 months. The Black Belt serves as an important tool to build desire
and tenacity, as well as to teach your child the importance of consistency
in any activity or program.
In
order to be promoted in belt rank, your child will be required to
participate in and successfully complete exams sanctioned by the
school. During these exams your child will be evaluated in skill
level. More importantly however, the degree of improvement, the
will to succeed, and positive attitude will be stressed. It is important
for all parents, relatives and teachers to attend promotional testing
and witness the children's progress, thus encouraging them to continue
their study of Tae Kwon Do.
We
offer a special "Star Card Award System" for children.
Parents keep monthly report cards, designed by Master Tiger Kim,
which encourages children to create good positive habits at home,
such as finishing tasks, keeping their room clean and listening
to parents. Every month children bring this report card to class
and if they have a good parent report, they receive a "star
card". When they have earned 5 "star cards" they
receive a big trophy.
EXAM
EMPHASIS ON SCHOOL WORK
All
young people in the program are asked to bring copies of their grades
from school at the end of each marking period. Those who show improvement
in grades will be openly recognized. Those who show a drop in grades
or exhibit poor grades will be privately counselled.
PROPER
USE OF SKILLS
It
is constantly stressed to students that Tae Kwon Do skills require
them never to be abusive or offensive, and are only for use defensively.
We, the instructors, make sure to be outstanding role models for
our students and live up to the Black Belt code.
