Tribute

Dear Valued Students and Parents,

In 1971, a man speaking little English but with big hopes and dreams came from Korea to open his first Taekwondo school in the Bronx. His name was Sang Soo Kim but he instantly earned the nickname of “Tiger Kim”.

With time, Grandmaster Tiger Kim became a pioneer in the martial arts world as he influenced millions of practitioners through his unique style and techniques and spectacular performances worldwide.  Many of his demonstrations were televised, particularly those that occurred at large venues like Madison Square Garden.

Aside from the work he did as an innovator and advocate of Taekwondo, Tiger Kim was also a great teacher. He and his family have taught hundreds of thousand students over the past few decades, and many of his students have gone on to become Masters and even Grandmasters who still actively teach Taekwondo in many schools throughout the United States and Canada.

This year marks the 20th Anniversary of his passing and we would like to invite all of Tiger Kim’s Taekwondo family and friends to reunite and celebrate this monumental tribute to the founder of the Tiger Kim’s and Tiger Twins Taekwondo schools. Please join us as we host a special fundraiser banquet in honor of our late father, Grandmaster Tiger Kim.

Grandmaster Tiger Kim always enjoyed giving back to different charity organizations but was especially keen on giving back to children.  To that end, we have partnered with a great charity organization, Tomorrows Children’s Fund (TCF) which helps children with cancer and blood-related disorders. They will be receiving all event proceeds.

There will be a professional photographer and videographer on hand to document this monumental event, so please dress appropriately.  We recommend semi-formal or dress to impress.
